BHAIRAVI

1. BHAIRAVI

AA001

Vermilion Orange with Gold and Violet Accents

The story

Every beginning has a moment that stays with us. For Aarambha, that moment was woven into silk. Bhairavi is the first saree woven for Aarambha, marking the beginning of our journey. Crafted entirely on the handloom in pure silk, its rich vermilion orange body is adorned with intricate gold zari motifs, with violet accents adding a distinctive touch to the weave. Inspired by the expressive depth of Raga Bhairavi, this saree brings together two enduring traditions: the artistry of Carnatic music and the heritage of Indian handloom weaving. For us, Bhairavi is more than a saree. It is the first chapter of a story we intend to keep weaving, one collection at a time. Some beginnings are remembered. Others are woven.

Some beginnings are remembered. Others are woven.

KAPI

2. KAPI

AA002

Rose pink with green and gold floral details

The story

Kapi carries an emotional warmth that feels close to the heart. Its beauty lies in the way tenderness and longing can exist in the same melody. This saree draws from that feeling, pairing rose pink with details that bring depth to its softness. It is an expression of affection that needs no occasion to be understood. Some traditions stay with us because they feel like home.

The beauty of what feels familiar, even as life changes.

VASANTHA

3. VASANTHA

AA003

Lime green with teal and gold detailing

The story

Vasantha takes its name from spring, a season associated with renewal and new life. Its Carnatic identity offers a fitting starting point for a saree built around vivid green and contrasting detail. The colour feels alive without needing to be loud. This is a saree for the moment when something begins—not because the past has been forgotten, but because there is more to come.

Tradition is not something we leave behind. It is something we carry forward.

KEERAVANI

4. KEERAVANI

AA004

Ivory with a deep purple and gold border

The story

Keeravani is known for its expressive depth and ability to carry complex emotion. It can feel contemplative, even when its melody grows intense. This saree reflects that contrast through a restrained ivory body and a deeper, more dramatic border. Nothing needs to compete for attention; the character emerges through the relationship between the two. Its beauty belongs to those who notice the details.

Elegance does not always announce itself. Sometimes, it reveals itself slowly.

NEELAMBARI

5. NEELAMBARI

AA005

Lavender with silver detailing

The story

Neelambari is traditionally associated with lullabies and a sense of calm. Its musical character invites a quieter kind of attention, one that does not demand anything in return. Lavender and silver offer our visual interpretation of that atmosphere. The saree feels gentle without becoming ordinary, carrying its detail with a light touch. It is made for moments when being present matters more than being noticed.

Not every beautiful moment needs to be remembered by everyone. It only needs to matter to you.

ABHERI

6. ABHERI

AA006

Deep teal with silver geometric patterns

The story

Abheri has a distinctive expressive quality, often heard as a meeting of tenderness and longing. Its phrases can feel intimate without losing their strength. This saree takes that idea into deep teal, with silver patterns creating structure across the richness of the colour. The contrast is deliberate: feeling and form, softness and definition. Together, they create a presence that is composed but never distant.

There is strength in knowing what moves you.

KALYANI

7. KALYANI

AA007

Golden yellow with traditional motifs

The story

Kalyani holds an important place in Carnatic music, known for its expansive character and expressive possibilities. Its musical identity can move from serenity to grandeur without losing its balance. This saree takes inspiration from that sense of openness through a golden-yellow palette and traditional motifs. The result is celebratory without depending on excess. It honours the kind of beauty that has belonged to important occasions across generations.

Some moments deserve to be marked, not merely remembered.

SHANKARABHARANAM

8. SHANKARABHARANAM

AA008

Bright yellow with subtle woven detailing

The story

Shankarabharanam is a foundational raga in Carnatic music, admired for its balance, richness and melodic possibilities. Its character demonstrates how much can be expressed through a clear and enduring structure. This saree follows a similar design philosophy: a bright yellow field, with subtle detailing that rewards a closer look. Rather than relying on complexity, its appeal comes from proportion and restraint. It is a reminder that classical beauty does not need to be reinvented to remain relevant.

What is timeless is not untouched by time. It simply continues to belong.

HAM SADHWANI

9. HAM SADHWANI

AA009

Light aqua with a silver-toned border

The story

Hamsadhwani is often heard at the beginning of Carnatic concerts, making it a natural raga through which to explore the feeling of an opening. Its character is bright and inviting, setting the stage for what follows. This saree interprets that quality through light aqua and a silver-toned border. There is a sense of clarity in the palette, as though the first notes have just begun. It belongs to the promise of an occasion before the occasion itself unfolds.

Every beginning carries the possibility of becoming a memory.

ANANDABHAIRAVI

10. ANANDABHAIRAVI

AA010

Peach with gold floral patterns

The story

Anandabhairavi is cherished in the Carnatic tradition for its expressive grace and emotional richness. Its character can feel tender and deeply personal, without losing its classical depth. This saree translates that feeling into peach and gold floral detailing. The design does not depend on sharp contrast; instead, its appeal lies in how the colours meet. It is an interpretation of grace that feels lived-in rather than performed.

Grace is not about being noticed. It is about how naturally you inhabit a moment.

CHARUKESI

11. CHARUKESI

AA011

Burnt orange with gold paisley motifs

The story

Charukesi is known for its expressive range, with a melodic character that can move between tenderness and intensity. It has a way of holding emotion without making it feel simple. This saree reflects that complexity through burnt orange and gold paisley motifs. The colour has warmth, while the motifs bring a sense of continuity with traditional design. Together, they speak to the moments that change us while leaving parts of our history intact.

We change with time, but we do not begin again from nothing.

SAHANA

12. SAHANA

AA012

Rose pink with an ornate gold border

The story

Sahana is often appreciated for its delicate emotional expression. Its beauty is found in nuance—in phrases that feel personal rather than overstated. This saree takes that as its starting point, bringing rose pink together with an ornate gold border. The softness of the body and the richness of the border create a relationship that feels considered. Neither has to overpower the other.

The most meaningful expressions are not always the loudest ones.

MOHANAM

13. MOHANAM

AA013

Electric blue with multicoloured motifs

The story

Mohanam is among the most recognisable ragas in the Carnatic repertoire, celebrated for its pentatonic structure and bright, inviting character. Its musical simplicity creates room for remarkable expression. This saree approaches that spirit through electric blue and multicoloured motifs. The colour establishes a strong identity, while the details give the eye more to discover. It is a celebration of expression without the need for solemnity.

Heritage is not only what we preserve. It is also what we find joy in carrying.

MADHYAMAVATI

14. MADHYAMAVATI

AA014

Dusty rose with gold woven patterns

The story

Madhyamavati is often associated with the concluding moments of a Carnatic concert, where the music settles into a sense of resolution. It carries a special place in musical tradition because of the way it can bring an experience to rest. This saree draws from that idea through dusty rose and gold woven patterns. Its appeal is not in dramatic contrast, but in the confidence of a balanced composition. It is for a woman who does not need a moment to prove itself.

There is a particular beauty in knowing when something is complete.

KAMBHOJI

15. KAMBHOJI

AA015

Emerald green with gold patterns

The story

Kambhoji is a major raga in the Carnatic tradition, associated with expansive musical expression and a strong classical presence. Its scope allows a performance to unfold with both dignity and grandeur. This saree takes inspiration from that sense of scale through emerald green and gold patterns. The palette recalls the richness of ceremonial dressing without reducing the saree to an occasion alone. Its character is in the way it occupies space with confidence.

Presence is not created by asking for attention. It is created by knowing who you are.

SAVERI

16. SAVERI

AA016

Vermilion orange with gold motifs

The story

Saveri has a distinct place in the Carnatic tradition, with a character that can feel solemn, grounded and deeply expressive. Its musical identity carries a sense of weight rather than superficial brightness. This saree interprets that grounded quality through vermilion orange and gold motifs. The colour is vivid, but its connection to traditional ceremonial palettes gives the design a sense of continuity. It is an expression of heritage as something practised and lived, not simply admired.

Roots are not where we remain. They are what allow us to stand.
